On a recent trip to visit Rod's parents I was amazed at the size of the sky. Driving through western New South Wales through flat paddocks cut through the middle by black tar, straight ahead. And the sky... so much of it... with an awe inspiring cloud exhibition on show.
I've taken some photos but couldn't do justice to the feeling of openness, expansiveness, distance, horizontal and vertical, forever.
Photos from a moving car....
And so much greener than I've ever seen it!
I've driven through here when this has been just dust. Dirt, red and brown. These green paddocks and the lush crops and pasture gave me such an uplifting feeling. The area was alive, productive, dynamic, not dry, brown and stagnant (not 'dead'- stagnant, waiting for rain).
And I grew very fond of a small town called West Wylong. There is no Wylong, just West Wylong.
Coloured lights zigzag overhead in the main street.
Art Deco architecture lines the street.
But that sky! So much of it so blue!
